Hi my name is Yurisa Garcia, born in Houston,Tx and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. I graduated from PSJA Memorial High School in 2016. I was fortunate enough to graduate from Texas A&M University debt free due to the help of my college counselor, Ms. Ramos and the Go Center who pushed me to apply to as many scholarships as I can. It took work but it was well worth it to pay for my education and now give me the ability to give back to my community.

In honor of my father, Severo Garcia who is no longer with us, I started this scholarship to give back to first generation students. May this be the start to provide endless opportunities for other students like me.Be encouraged that you can do anything you put your mind to. Always remember Si Se Puede.
